Angels Among Us

I remember when

my two year, blue-eyed angel explained

heavenly beings are everywhere.

She could see

because no one told her

she couldn’t.

Around every corner there was mystery;

inside every cupboard, magic;

beneath every clover, a miracle.

Years turn into the next.

The eye of our soul

is shuttered by

doubt and disbelief.

Consumed by seeking Truth,

we no longer recognize

the angels among us.
