A Year with the Mystics
Ecclesiastes says
that there is a time and a season
for all things.
But that is not what
the unchecked items on
my to-do list scream.
“Pay attention to me!”
“Notice me!” “Fix me!”
All the while the earth keeps turning the days.
All the while the sun slips in and out of sight.
All the while the wise ones tell us to be still:
find center in the middle of motion.
Look and truly see.
Touch and really feel. Hear and fully listen.
Breathe.
That is all good but more than a little tricky.
So just for today,
I will try to stand in the now.
Besides the rest is only illusion.
And tomorrow will have
time of its own.
