9-11 Ashes

On this day

all was ashes.

In a gasp of blinding light,

dreams crumbled

and breath turned to dust.

Like so many flashes of fire before…

desperation dissolved as death;

righteousness burned to ruin;

certainty collapsed into casualties.

Today

Remembering the world’s witness:

zeal disintegrating into

Ground Zero.
